Copyright is the legal protection of your work. When you create something it is protected under copyright law that no one else can use your work without giving you credit. Fair use is the right to use other works and change them creatively to make something new in certain copyright circumstances. As a teacher, I think I would show a video like my teacher Dan He, then I would have an activity with examples to see if situations are legal or illegal under copyright laws. I would also have a quiz like the activity to make sure all my students fully understood the difference between fair use and copyright.
Cyberbullying is a serious issue and I would explain how drastic cyberbullying can be. Depending on how old my students are I might show them a video on how cyberbullying can lead to suicide. If my students are younger I would explain how words matter and stick with people for a long time and saying mean words behind a screen does not make you cool, or funny, but makes them a coward. If a student witness bullying they should report it to an adult or to the social media platform.
Student Privacy is another important issue in regards to technology. These days there are so many people trying to be influencers and sharing so much about their lives. This can be dangerous and I would show them how easy it is to find out where someone lives, goes to school, and when they leave the house by using Youtube, TikTok, and Instagram. Then I would explain how people can use the information to rob houses, kidnap people, and sex traffic people. I would make an activity and see who could find out the most information about someone they do not know online.
I think my skills in Word improved a lot because of the recent newsletter assignment. Now I can space out and use more tools in Word like the text box and line tools. I think in the future my newsletters will be better when I have a clear outline and everything I need to add. I chose to do a beginning of the year letter and I think whatever school I work at would give me more guidance on what I need to include. I also think I can improve the colors I use and how they pertain to my letter. I will definitely use these skills to create my newsletters and communicate with parents when I am a teacher.
